FW-190 A EPP

Building the LM FW one-ninety was easy with the good instructions with plenty of detailed pictures.

The EPP componets are cleanly cut and the fit of the fuselage and wings is perfect.

The only changes that I made were to add two aileron servos. This way I hope to be able to mix some "Flaps" on my JR MC 24 and also have more responsive ailerons.

The only other addition that I am planing is the adition of a Rudder Servo as I am used to stearing that function anyway and the little FW can pack the extra weight with no problem.

I added a few "Scale" details like the Pilots armor shield which I made from Balsa as well as the BMW 801 engine and one-ninety cockpit. The pictures are easy to find in the net and after adjusting the size in Photoshop and printing with a regular color printer they were glued to the wooden engine rib and fuselage. A light coat of clear spraypaint sealed the "decals" against te weather and morning dew in the gras. The lines were drawn on the fueselage and wings with a waterproof marker and then lighly airbrushed. I have a light styrofoam Pilot and a round Spinner on order to improove the scale look further.

I added a small hole next to the outrunner engine to supply some cooling air into the fuselage. I thought that with possible flight times of over 24 minutes with my setup this would be a wise idea for the comming summer month. It is very important to add a exhaust opening for the air as well. I cut this with a apple core remover I borrowed from my wifes kitchen. It cuts nice round circles into the EPP without fraying.

Empty weight with RC is 280 Gramm / 9.8 Oz and AUW (all up weight) is 430 Gramm / 15.15 Oz with a 2000 mAh 3s Lipo.

Engine power is more that sufficiant pulling the little one-nintey straight up. Outside loops as well as all other manouvers that can be flown with aileron and elevator are flown through with ease and the throttle most of the time below half. Inverted backwards flight is very neutral and the roll rate is moderate.

Even flights in rough turbulent air just before a thunderstorm were no problem for this well designed LM FW 190. It stayed right on track and did not suprise the pilot with any unexpected situations.

The airspeed can be reduced to a very moderate landing speed were the pilot can just about stall the one-ninety above high gras for a very soft landing.

The flight times are very very good with about 24 minutes + out of a 2000 mAh Lipo pack.

Here my RC Components:

Motor: Brushless Outrunner Park 400 920 kv,

Prop: APC 9x6

ESC : Jeti 4parkFly 18

Battery: 3s 2000er bzw. 2S 2000er Lipo

Here a flight log from my DPR 100 Data Logger. It shows a max current of 10.78 A at 12.39 Volts resulting in 115.10 Watts of power. More than enough for this fine plane.

Hier das Messblatt vom Flug mit 3s Akku.

Overall the LM Model FW 190 is a really fun plane to build and fly and with the long flights times and Lipo Batteries it is a definite keeper and a real fun addition to my hangar.
